ORQ Goes North
This weekend, ORQ will be making its first venture to public space at the Wassaic Project, an arts and media festival organized by Eve Biddle + Bowie: http://www.wassaicproject.com/info.html . ORQ is looking froward to getting out of the city, even for the day.
There will be ORQ readings from 1:30 - 4:30 PM on Saturday August 23rd. We're traveling by zipcar, schlepping the new portable chairs (& table), the source texts for the readings, and video stuff. R. is coming to film the readings.
I'm really grateful to Eve for letting me invite myself to the Wassaic Project on the spur of the moment. R. and I were talking about how/where/when to take ORQ out into the world, and what it would be like to set up on a sidewalk or busy public space. Eve had put me on her mailing list after we met at the now-defunct Womens Studio Center (WSC), where we were both in a group show last year or the year before? At the time, she had a studio at the WSC - interestingly, the exact same studio I'd had briefly a couple of years earlier, before the director changed her mind about stonecarvers working in the studios. Eve does some really interesting sculpture as well as murals and public projects. You can see some of her work online at http://www.evebiddle.com .
